COMMISSIONING A MURAL
The first step in creating a mural is to meet so I can look at the space and discuss your theme, options, and pricing. I live in Almonte, within easy driving distance of Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley.
I have pre-designed some themes but I am happy to use inspiration from fabric samples, books, photos, patterns, etc. I also have reference material for you to look at when making a decision.
Once we decide on images and placement I will project the silhouette onto the wall, trace it out, and then paint it with your choice of paint colour. Sometimes I will paint free-hand as well. I do not paint the base wall colour, only the mural on top!
I use only low VOC acrylic paints. However, I do recommend having a mural done a few weeks before a new baby will be using the space, or keeping an older child from sleeping in the room for at least one night. I use drop cloths and tape to ensure no paint is spilled in your room.
My murals take one to two days to complete, depending on the complexity of the design and my time constraints. I am happy to work around your schedule too.
PRICING
These prices include an initial consultation/quotation and all supplies and materials. I will not be painting the base wall colour, only the mural on top. These murals are in a single colour. Ask about pricing for two-tone or full-colour murals.
Medium Mural: $300-400
This category includes one or two large images or figures and several smaller details. It can be on one or two walls. An example is a large tree beside the crib with leaves floating onto an adjacent wall and a few birds flying in the sky.
Large Mural: $500-600
This category includes three to five large images or figures and several smaller details. It can be on one to four walls. An example is a fairy theme with three large fairy figures, one on each of three walls, with flowers, butterflies, stars, and sparkles around the room.
Mural Extras: $50
These are the little details that will really personalize your space. Examples are your child's name, birthdate, or a favorite quote. Other ideas are to paint a family pet, favorite storybook character, or detailing on furniture. Ask me about custom wall art as well.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hi, I am Linda Hamilton and
I am an artist living and working in Almonte, Ontario. I have been painting murals for homes and businesses since 1997. After painting murals for each of my babies' rooms, I decided to focus on children's murals and silhouette murals in particular. I love the overall effect and I think you will too!
I am a graduate of York University's Visual Arts program where I studied drawing and painting. I also do my own artwork and have participated in several shows and exhibitions.
